Creating a podcast "Listen the Chant from Aladdin and the Genie!"
Hello everyone! Recently, my friend Zeynep Naz İnalkaç and I were tasked with an exciting assignment: creating a podcast. The main content of our audio recording was a fun, rhythmic chant designed to briefly introduce the classic characters, Aladdin and his Genie.
To be completely honest, the process had its difficulties. Zeynep and I struggled quite a bit initially with composing the chant itself and finding the right tone and energy for the voice recording. We used the Vocaroo website to capture our audio, and it took a lot of collaborative trial and error to get the flow right! However, despite these creative challenges, we had an absolute blast. By the end of the day, laughing through our multiple recording attempts and mistakes made it a truly joyful and memorable experience.
Reflecting on this task, there are clear advantages and disadvantages. The biggest advantage is that it dramatically boosts creativity, pronunciation, and speaking fluency in a highly engaging format. It takes language out of the textbook. On the downside, the technical aspects of recording and the pressure of writing a catchy rhythm from scratch can be time-consuming and slightly frustrating at first.
So, would I give this exact assignment to my future students? Absolutely! I definitely plan to use podcasting and tools like Vocaroo in my own classroom one day. Even with the minor hurdles we faced, it is an incredibly educational and fun activity that genuinely brings language learning to life.
