Creating a podcast "Listen the Chant from Aladdin and the Genie!"

Hello everyone! Recently, my friend Zeynep Naz İnalkaç and I were tasked with an exciting assignment: creating a podcast. The main content of our audio recording was a fun, rhythmic chant designed to briefly introduce the classic characters, Aladdin and his Genie.

To be honest, the assignment process was a bit challenging. Zeynep and I initially struggled with things like creating the lyrics and music for the chant, and singing it with the right energy. We used the Vocaroo website, which we learned about in class, to record our audio, and we took many takes to get the best possible recording. However, despite these difficulties, we had so much fun. At the end of the day, even though we tried dozens of times, it was really enjoyable to have fun with our mistakes during the recording and learn together.

The biggest advantage of this assignment was definitely improving our pronunciation and creativity skills. To develop these skills, the assignment content was engaging and well-written. The assignment takes language learning beyond textbooks and the classroom. The challenging part was the technical aspects. Establishing and recording a memorable rhythm from scratch can be a bit difficult at first.

Would I give this or a similar assignment to my students in the future? Absolutely! I definitely plan to use podcasting and tools like Vocaroo in my own classroom someday. Despite some of the problems we encountered, it was a truly exciting and fun assignment that enlivened the language learning process.
